Surviving the Challenges of 2020

Jeff from Virtual Magpies

Updated: Oct 23, 2020

The year 2020 might be the unluckiest year in my existence. I started my year by the eruption of Taal Volcano. Since we are living in Calamba, Laguna, which is meters aways from the Taal Volcano, My wife and I started our year by closing every window and door in order to restrict the entry of magma ashes. When I was looking out in the window, it looked like it was snowing with ashes. This was the time I felt that even though I have money, I could not buy something I need. The supplies were in scarcity. After the Taal Incident, the Novel Coronavirus (N-COV) pandemic arises. Our city has been one of the hotspots in this pandemic. Therefore, a long duration of community lockdown has been implemented unlike the other provinces near Metro Manila.

During the eruption and the pandemic, food is one of the primary resources we need to have. My wife and I need to gather goods for a week without government assistance and availability of the supermarket. The main concern here is how to buy some goods since the supermarkets were very crowded and the queue was very long. At the same time, the number of goods you were allowed to buy was limited also. Lastly, the curfew hours was a challenge to me since every store was closed around 3:00PM. It was a concern to me since I have been working from home. With that, I need to budget my time when I should go out and go to work.

With proper time management and strict scheduling, my wife and I have been managing the challenges of 2020. The pandemic might not be over yet, however the scheduling and time management plotted. This year is going to end and we are hoping the pandemic is going to end soon. With proper planning and guidance from the Lord, no problems we cannot solve under God’s guidance.
